FAQ

When should you plant herbs?

The ideal time to plant herbs is springtime, when the soil temperature is 55°F. They should be in full sun to get the best results. Plant basil indoors by placing seedlings into pots containing potting mix. Keep them out of direct sun until they sprout leaves. When the plants have started to grow, transfer them into bright indirect sunlight. After about three weeks, transplant them to individual containers and continue to water them regularly.

Are pots possible to grow fruit trees?

Yes! Yes! To prevent tree rot, make sure the pot has drainage holes. Also, ensure the pot is deep enough to hold the root ball. This will keep the tree from becoming stressed.

How many hours of light does a plant need?

It depends on the type of plant. Some plants need 12 hours of direct sun per day. Others prefer 8 hours in indirect sunlight. The majority of vegetables require 10 hours of direct sunshine per 24 hour period.

Which is the best layout for a vegetable garden?

The best vegetable garden layout depends on where you live. For easy harvesting, it is best to plant vegetables in the same area as your home. For maximum yield, however, it is best to space your plants if you are in a rural area.

What is a planting plan?

A planting plan is a list of plants to be planted at different times each year. The goal is for plants to grow at their best while minimizing stress. Early spring crops like spinach, lettuce, and peas must be sow after the last frost date. Spring crops later include squash, cucumbers, summer beans, and squash. Fall crops include cabbage, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and cauliflower.

What should I do the first time you want to start a vegetable garden?

The first step to starting a garden is to prepare it. This includes adding organic matter like composted cow manure, grass clippings leaves, straw, and so on, which will help to provide plant nutrients. Next, place seeds or seedlings in prepared holes. Then, water well.

How To

Organic fertilizers are available for garden use

Organic fertilizers are made of natural substances like manure, compost and fish emulsion. Non-synthetic materials are used in the production of organic fertilizers. Synthetic fertilizers include chemicals used in industrial processes. They are widely used in agriculture because they provide nutrients to plants quickly and efficiently without requiring laborious preparation methods. Synthetic fertilizers can pose risks to the environment and human health. They also require large amounts energy and water to make. Synthetic fertilizers also pollute surface and groundwater through runoff. This pollution is both harmful to wildlife as well as humans.

There are many organic fertilizers available:

* Manure - produced when livestock eat food containing nitrogen (a plant nutrient). It contains bacteria, enzymes, and other substances that break down the waste into simple compounds which can be easily absorbed by plants.

* Compost: A mixture of animal manure, grass clippings (decomposing leaves), vegetable scraps (vegetable scraps) and grass clippings (grass clippings). It is high in nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium as well as calcium, magnesium, sulfur. It is highly porous so it can retain moisture well and release nutrients slowly.

* Fish Emulsion - a liquid product derived from fish oil. It has the ability to dissolve oils, fats and is very similar to soap. It also contains trace elements like phosphorous, Nitrogen, and other elements.

* Seaweed extract - A concentrated solution of minerals from kelp and red algae. It is a good source of vitamins A, C, iron, and iodine.

* Guano, excrement taken from amphibians, bats, reptiles and seabirds. It contains nitrogen, sulfur, chloride and carbon.

* Blood Meal is the meat and bones of animals that have been slaughtered. It's rich in protein and can be used to feed poultry and other animals. It also contains phosphorus, potassium, nitrogen, and trace minerals.

To make organic fertilizer, combine equal parts of manure, compost, and/or fish emulsion. Mix thoroughly. If you don't have all three ingredients, you can substitute them one for another. If you have only access to the fish oil emulsion, then you can combine 1 part fish emulsion and 2 parts compost.

Apply the fertilizer by spreading it evenly using a tiller or shovel. About a quarter of a cup of the fertilizer is needed per square foot. You'll need to add fertilizer every two weeks until new growth appears.
