FAQ

Is there enough space in my backyard to grow a vegetable garden.

It's possible to wonder if you will have enough space for a vegetable or fruit garden if your current one is not available. The answer is yes. A vegetable garden doesn't take up much space at all. It's all about planning. Raised beds can be built as low as 6 inches. Or, you could use containers instead of raised beds. You will still get plenty of produce regardless of how you do it.

What is the minimum space required to grow vegetables?

One square foot of soil will require 1/2 pound of seeds. This is a good rule of thumb. You will need 100 pounds of seed if your area is 10 feet by 10 foot (3 meters by 3 metres).

What's the difference between aquaponic and hydroponic gardening?

Hydroponic gardening relies on nutrient rich water rather than soil to provide nutrients for plants. Aquaponics uses fish tanks to grow plants. It's like having a farm right in your backyard.

What's the first thing you should do when you begin a garden project?

The first thing you should do when starting a new garden is prepare the soil. This includes adding organic matter like composted cow manure, grass clippings leaves, straw, and so on, which will help to provide plant nutrients. Next, plant the seeds or seedlings in the holes. Then, water well.

How often should my indoor plants be watered?

Indoor plants require watering at least once a day. You can maintain humidity in the house by watering. Humidity is crucial for healthy plants.

What is a planting plan?

A planting plan is a list of plants to be planted at different times each year. The goal of a planting calendar is to maximize plant growth and minimize stress. So, for example, spring crops such as lettuce, spinach, or peas should not be sown before the last frost date. Summer beans, squash, cucumbers and squash are all later spring crops. Fall crops include cabbage, potatoes, cauliflower, broccoli and cauliflower.

How can I tell what kind of soil is mine?

You can tell by looking at the color of the dirt. Organic matter is more abundant in dark soils than those with lighter colors. You can also do soil tests. These tests are used to determine the quantity of nutrients in soil.
